We don’t know what the next City Council meeting on Tuesday will cover, though judging from last meeting’s punted items and the notices posted on the City website, it’s going to be a doozy. But we do know there will be another big meeting next week, as the Active Transportation Committee has been called up for another special meeting on April 17.

Once again “municipal code updates” are on the agenda, with the staff this time being a little more specific and noting the updates cover Titles 4 and 10 of the Costa Mesa Municipal Code. Given that these titles cover bicycles and motor vehicles, it’s safe to say these updates refer to the Costa Mesa Police Department’s second stab at the city’s e-bike ordinance. I caught up with some folks who attended the last meeting and the ordinance reportedly included restrictions on ebikes using the sidewalks. It will be interesting to see whether those restrictions are still in the proposed updates.
